JANUARY 2012 NEWS LETTER

I.T. TENDER MINISTRY
 JANUARY 2012 ISSUE

    NIGHTLIFE MINISTRY “IMMERSION”
The area where we gather children in Alabang

I.T. Tender “Nightlife” Ministry focuses on reaching out to street children in the Alabang area here in the Philippines. Children who are cast away and live in the streets because of poverty, broken families, abuse and socio-economic problems that endanger their lives are engaged in such activities as scavenging, begging, and prostitution for survival. Many of them are also addicted to sniffing solvents called “Rugby” to help ease the hunger and pains of life. These children are often seen within the area of Alabang sleeping under the bridge of the viaduct, in flea-market area, and on the footbridge.

plastic of solvent

As this month of January, 2012 begins, our workers have been searching around the Alabang area every Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon and Thursday until evening reaching out to these children scattered around the area and doing their activities for survival. Workers immersed in the streets will know these children more, their lifestyle, culture and different upbringings, by observing how hard life is being independent in their young age.  Workers visit the footbridge where there is a second-hand clothes shop where children used to hang out in the evening (around 7:00pm onwards) to play, check their scavenged scraps, and most of the time to gather sniffing solvent. During the day they are scattered around different areas to get their sleep.
Hardships and frustrations are sometimes a hindrance faced by the workers, but we are thankful to the Lord who started this work in us and for these children entrusted to us, and how the Lord will move in their lives, sharing love and helping find their value as a normal child.

ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM @ 2012
Learners in their new classroom

Year 2012 enters with excitement for the workers as the class starts last January 11, with a new classroom with much peaceful room that somehow, away from noisy vehicles outside the Learning Center. This room was before only for guest missionaries at the second floor of the Center beside the ministry office, but from the idea of improving a much better place for the learners to have more peaceful room to focus on their studies and other activities, the room was transformed into a classroom type that may give space for learners. The mobile teacher was glad when she saw the room and the learners as well. Now we observed learners enjoying their lessons in a more quiet room and they are very thankful to it. However, it is not done yet, there is still more to improve from the classroom and we continue praying for the renovation of the room like having armchairs and new whiteboard that they can use for much a comfortable and better facilities of the classroom. We know that the Lord will continue his good works to this ministry and provide all the needs for dreams these learners lived in their new life with hope of a good future.

“ GRADUATION”

“At last!...i finally stepped into the stage!” as one of the learners are joyfully sharing the experience he has and the other learners as well from their Alternative Learning System Graduation held last  January 28, 2012 at the ALS Center in Muntinlupa City. This is yearly done to give recognition to learners who undergone the program, for the Accreditation and Equivalency Exam takers and new learners as well.  We are blessed the these learners experience the feeling of stepping on the stage to graduate that did not happen before as when they stopped studying. NOVEMBER and DECEMBER NEWS LETTER

I.T. TENDER MINISTRY
 NOVEMBER 2011 ISSUE

ALS LEARNERS PRESENTATION...WE ARE THE REASON!

Learners as they render their God given
talents and share it to bless others.

“Bravo!” as people gave their clap offerings to the Lord through learners who render a special number last November 27 at the City Bible Church Alabang. From a simple invitation of their senior pastor, these learners became so excited as we ask them if they can render a dance number at the church. They immediately respond to the call and start to form their group and pick a song to dance. They were about to pick a fast song when we let them heard a song not familiar to their ears...we are the Reason! Somehow the song catches the learners attention and said it’s a good song and they will do it for their special number. They are so excited as some of them said it is a challenge that it is their first time to handle a slow song and others are not really dancing at all.
At the day of their presentation, they even invite their parents to attend church and some of their friends. They are blessed from God’s message through the speaker and as it ends they blessed people from their God given talents shared. People from the church keeps on giving their clap offerings to the Lord as they see how the Lord move in these learners lives. At the center we may not have much but sharing some bread and enjoy everyone's company as we give thanks to the Lord for His guidance and blessing from a simple dance offering.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINING!
As part or reaching out children in streets and in poor communities. It’s not only developing the wholeness of a child but also their communities as well. Last November 12, 2011, we are privileged to be part of the Community Development Seminar held at the Christ To The World Church in Makati. The seminar was conducted by Youth Mobilization with the help of the Community Development students Pen Bullo with her classmate who are also working in the field for years. There are lots of learning of how to deal with community people especially in areas where informal settlers are taking place. And it was great that we not only have teachings but also workshops where we can interact with other participants and learn also from their experiences.
We give thanks to God for this wonderful experience of learning for upgrading our knowledge reaching out children and their communities as well.

RE-CREATION!! ALS LEARNERS POST EXAM FELLOWSHIP

Gabby while sharing the story of Zacchaeus
 in their morning devotion

Learners while having fun in their
coin relay game at the pool

After the Accreditation and Equivalency test that was held last month. We had seen how they really give their time, efforts and sacrifices for their goal of passing their examination. Now it’s their time to relax and have a day of recreation after months of lessons and reviews. Last November 18, 2011. The ALS learners post exam outdoor fellowship held at the Libis ng Nayon in Los Banos, Laguna. There we had time to learn God’s word through our morning devotion, had fun through activities like games and team building. Before we end our activity and continue their enjoyment in swimming, we form circle in the pool holding hands and had time of sharing their testimonies. Each of them had their testimonies to share and thanksgiving to people who help them pushing their goals and thanksgiving to our Lord who gives them the strength and new hope to continue their life with hope and dreams.
By giving time to be with people who once lost their dreams is more like sharing your life as an example of how Christ love those who are lost. This is not yet the end point of their life, there are still more to come and more to achieve. And we believe that through Christ there is no such thing as “impossible”. We challenge people to pray for these learners as they wait for the result of their Accreditation and Equivalency exam this coming year 2012. And for everything we give praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.

I AM FINALLY HOME THIS CHRISTMAS !

ALL SMILES! Joshua (the boy in the green shirt) together
with his mother and younger siblings in their home.
 A former street kid.
An abandoned child.
A hardworking boy.
A loving brother.
Joshua is a product of a broken family. Right after his father was put in jail because of theft, his mother left them for another man. This family crisis led him and his siblings to become scattered. Some of them were roaming the streets while others were under the custody (and mercy) of their relatives. But Joshua chose to work to earn money that would feed him and his two younger siblings.

Joshua in his school uniform at
Bayanan Elementary School.
God has a plan for this boy! Through Sponsor A Child Now Program, a street kid is now a student! Currently enrolled and attending a formal school in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. He had his temporary shelter at the IT Tender Drop In Center.
The ministry has located his mother. Through a home visitation, it was assessed that she is able enough to keep Joshua again. After a series of interviews, meetings, and assessment, last October 6, 2011 he was reunited with his mother! What a day for a child to be home again with his family! Glory be to God!

I came that they may have life, and have it to the full.”     John 10:10b

A New Monitoring System !

This is How It Works! the worker is explaining
to the mothers about the new monitoring system.
Monitoring the 26 beneficiaries about their school attendance and situation at home is not easy. A series of interventions is needed to keep track of their progress. These activities include  home visitations, school visitations, individual interviews and assemblies. A new system was implemented last September 6, 2011. This new tool led to a greater advancement which is making it more practical, comprehensive and credible. The parents were given an Attendance Sheet where the parents will coordinate with their child’s school adviser. The teachers will have to fill out the form and seal it with their signature. This also will mobilize them to build a partnership with the teachers to work hand-in-hand for their children’s education.

2nd Quarter SACN General Assembly!

SIT ON THE BALLOON! This mother just finished sitting on a
balloon to get the pieces needed to complete the jigsaw puzzle.
Games were also part of the activity.

The program aims to build a partnership with the beneficiaries and their families. Because the ministry believes that a family has the capability to improve their own lives. One of the regular activities held is the general assembly. The said event was held last September 3, 2011 at Sucat Elementary School.
The event was filled with so many blessings! An Education student volunteered to share an informative  information about the country’s history, POCARI Sweat supported the drinks, TBN (a Christian Broadcasting Network) donated slippers, toys & school materials as prizes and souvenir items for the attendees, they were also given medicines & vitamins, and there was a brief celebration of the beneficiaries who were born in the month of September.
An open forum headed by the program director, Sis. Gela T. Basiwa, was also held at the last part of the program. At the end of the event, the beneficiaries and their families were with filled information, fun and of course gifts! To God be all the glory for this jam packed event!

I.T. Tender Christmas Party 2011 !

CHRISTMAS IN OUR HEARTS! The beneficiaries of the
program during the Christmas Party held last December 10, 2011
at Jollibee
After 12 months of waiting for the kids... And 3 months of preparation by the staff…The Christmas Party has finally arrived! Which aims to share the love and joy of the birth of Jesus Christ to the beneficiaries and visitors. Over 100 people attended said event whichwas held at Jollibee, Festival Mall, Alabang.  Beneficiaries from the Food For Life Program, ALS Program, and Sponsor A Child Now program together with their families, the staff and their families, and other invited guests were gathered for one reason and that is to glorify the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Through the inspirational message of Ptr. JunieAntivero, project director of Seed of Love Ministry, many hearts have been won                                                                       for our Lord Jesus Christ. Many attendees were blessed as he testified his story of being a former street kid and how God changed his life. 87 people including kids, youth and families surrendered their lives to God!
Most of the attendees rarely have the opportunity to eat at this kind of restaurant. It was a delight to see how they enjoyed the food and the desserts that were served. Some of them even asked for a bag so that they could take some of it home and share it with their siblings. What a moving showcase of selfless love for their family! God is so good! It was not only the beneficiaries who received gifts but also the parents. They were surprised to receive a basket of groceries each!
Glory be to God for the success of this event. Thank you for all those who supported this event ! May God bless you more!

Writer’s Little Corner

THANK YOU SPONSORS! The worker is holding a beautiful
dress which will be given to a beneficiary as a Christmas gift!
The year 2011 played a huge turning point in my life. For a newcomer like me, it was not easy to handle a big project like the Sponsor A Child Now! It kept me thinking if I deserved such a privilege of serving God like this. But God is great! He supplied me with all the strength and wisdom that I needed. Yes, there had been failures but they even made me stronger!
Thank you for all the supporters of this ministry. Your support does not only help the beneficiaries but the community as well!
For the coming 2012, the program is now even bigger. This will include the Alternative Learning System Program and Basic Literacy Program. Please pray for our upcoming activities such as the Family Day this coming February, 10,the New Beneficiaries from our church partner LJBC- Tiaong,Quezon, the Fund Raising Event for Project Classroom inside IT Tender Center, the Case Conference this coming April, the Livelihood Program and the Kid’s & Youth Camp this coming October. SEPTEMBER and OCTOBER 2011 NEWS LETTER

“FEEDING PROGRAM PARTNERSHIPS”

Food For Life Coordinator Cecille de Jesus while
giving the orientation at F.R.E.E. Christian Church

As the Food For Life is near of completing it’s six month program, God opened up new doors for the ministry to extend it’s help to other churches in new areas. F.R.E.E Christian Church in Taguig City has shown interest from feeding program when we visited  their church through one of our intern worker. Just a simple conversation of glimpse of the I.T. Tender Ministry with her pastor leads into setting a ministry orientation meeting which was done last September 11, Sunday. The church is now preparing everything to start the Feeding program and reach out children and communities in their area.
Another opportunity that God opened to I.T. Tender Ministry is to share program and services to the leaders, workers and Pastor of Malaban Christian Church in Binan, Laguna Last September 17, Saturday. There we had the privilege to share more of existing programs of the I.T. Tender Ministry. The orientation focused more of the feeding program which will be extended to their church. The feeding program will be done in an area that they are praying for.  We are blessed from how the church and its leaders welcomed us and express their gratitude for sharing the program to their church. And we are also thankful for servants like them who are willing to give their time and efforts to serve God through poor children in their area.
Ptr. John Basiwa; sharing the programs
and services of the I.T. Tender Ministry

I.T. Tender Ministry is giving back all the glory to God who is the real source of our strength and provider of every needs of the ministry. We continue our prayers to these churches from what the Lord has put in their hearts and willing to serve by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

NIGHTLIFE MINISTRY...HOME VISITS!

Children reading at home

From this month of September, we started to visit homes of children who regularly attends the Nightlife ministry. From there we had seen  a lot more by sharing time talking and building relationship. Through this we had a chance too see more of their daily routine at home and in time of their activities( scavenging). It was a very hot day when we visited their area and they invited us to go with them for a swimming at the bay where they always hang out to play and enjoy their day. It was the first time they invited us and share time with them in a place where they hang out.
We continue home visitations and area mapping in Alabang area to continue reach children at risk and focus more on immersion  to communities and on the streets. It may not enough and we continue praying for God’s wisdom and strength for these children we are reaching out. To God be all the glory!

From the month of September, as the number of learners was lessen because of some personal and financial reasons. Through this home visits we had understand more of their situation in life and had a chance to talk to them, pray for them and bring back the desire in their hearts to finish the school year by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though from these situations, we are thankful to the Lord for learners who are enduring and giving their best to study and finish the school year. Focusing more on their essay, English lesson ang spelling quiz that gives higher equivalent of scores in the examinations. FOOD FOR LIFE…GRADUATION DAY!

Food For Life participants showing
their certificates with their parents.

Much waited day to the children of the Food for Life Feeding Program…
Last October 21, 2011 a graduation was held for the 13 participants who finish the 6 months feeding program of IT Tender Ministry in Alabang. This is through recognizing their participation by giving of awards and certification to the children and their parents who’s been part of the program. In part of their thanks giving to the program and to God, the children gave short dance presentation entitled “God’s Forever Family” in which they are joyful to dance and give enjoyment to their parents and fellow children as well.
From the six month program, not only gaining children’s nutritional needs but also how these families saw the Lord move in their lives as some of them attend worship services every Sunday morning with their children. 9 out of 13 children gained their normal weight from severe results of their first month. 3 of them was about to reach their normal weight and 1 who is still in severe malnutrition was referred in partnership with the Barangay Health Center for their nutritional status follow up.
To be a blessing to others is a blessing to one itself. Our team is keeping on from what God has entrusted to us and everyone who believes in dreams of every child in the silence of poverty. Pray with us and be a partner in ministering to these children. And from everything we do is to give praise and be the name of our Lord Jesus Christ exalted in each heart and lives of children, their families and their communities as well. To God be all the glory!

“ THE SECOND PHASE”
Learners with gabby as they pose before their exam.

It was called their “Second Phase”. After months of enduring all the hard works in learning, never ending essay practices and quizzes that always makes them say “..again?..”. Now they had seen the beauty of keeping on as every individual learner prepare themselves for the much awaited Accreditation & Equivalency exam. Sadly, almost half of registered learners for the examination seize in attending their weekly class for some financial and family reasons. But from these situation, hindrances are not allowed. Learners from the center and those who are not able to attend sessions continue their studies and reviews at home through borrowing ALS modules and reviewers and pass it to their mobile teacher whenever they had the chance to attend at sessions and through this they can maximize their time in learning. October 21, coordinators had the chance to gather all registered learners at one session to have a time to pray for everyone. Ptr. John Basiwa led in prayers and encouragement to the learners.
October 23, Sunday morning. Learners gathered from different part of the city and from I.T. Tender Ministry joined once again in prayer to prepare their hearts for the examination. Most of them are nervous but it was great to see how they encourage each other and enjoy their time together while the exam is not yet beginning. It was not the end but the just the beginning as we wait for their exam results this coming March 2012. We continue praying for these learners in their future life and looking forward for each of them who will receive the price of good future in following and giving trust to our Lord Jesus Christ.
